Designed for expanding the slotted clamps that secure suspension struts to the steering knuckle, this universal strut spreader allows for safe, controlled separation during disassembly. It is commonly used in MacPherson strut setups, where the lower end of the strut is held tightly within a clamping bore on the knuckle. By expanding this joint, the strut can be removed without force or damage to surrounding components.
The tool offers an expansion range of 5.0–11.5 mm and is driven by a 17 mm hex interface for manual use. Constructed from hardened and tempered 42CrMo alloy steel, it withstands up to 70 N of spreading force. Compact dimensions make it ideal for working within confined suspension assemblies.
