GENERATION 2 ON VEHICLE WHEEL BEARING REPLACEMENT SET IN CARRY CASE
This Generation 2 wheel bearing set is designed for on-vehicle replacement and minimises the amount of component removal required. It works with 18 ton and 22 ton hydraulic cylinders and is intended for vehicles using the second-generation style bearing, where the wheel flange is integral with the wheel bearing. Removal is carried out in a single process and the new bearing is pressed back in as one complete unit.
Some Generation 2 bearings are secured with a retaining clip, making it essential to use the correct tooling both to press the clip in and to ensure the bearing is pressed in on the outer race only. Pressing on the inner race risks internal bearing damage and premature failure. With the correct setup, the tool supports both bearing types – those with a central hole and those without, using an additional part when required. The adjustable bridge plate features sliding legs that can be positioned to suit any bearing size, giving full flexibility for different hub designs.
By allowing the bearing to be replaced directly on the vehicle, this system avoids the struggle with seized components and reduces the risk of damage from excessive dismantling. In most cases there is no need to remove ABS sensors, which are easily damaged, adding further time and cost savings. It saves significant time in the workshop by eliminating the need for a press and avoiding unnecessary removal of suspension and steering parts.
A universal bridge plate (part no. 91034505) is required and is shared across all wheel bearing kits, with different legs bolted to it as needed. Only one bridge plate is necessary to cover all applications.
